What I learned about the future of anthropology: An interactive presentation
Default due date: May 25, 2025 at 11:59 p.m.
Word count: 500 words equiv.
When you have finished your second paper, you will also share what you learned with the class in an informal, interactive presentation.
More details about what this presentation should include will come later. This is a new assignment for this class, and we should discuss how it will work first.
I imagine that most students will want to write about emerging scholars and new work, so you can think about your second essay and this presentation as a space where you argue that a new, future anthropology is emerging. This is not required for the second essay or this presentation.
There will be a few core requirements for this assignment.
- You will submit a page with an outline of your notes beforehand by the deadline.
- You will speak in tutorial to the class about your main claim in your second essay and your reasoning for it with one or two examples.
- You do not (and probably should not) prepare slides or handouts.
- You will also answer questions from Ryan and from the class about your essay.
If you have concerns about speaking in class, please talk to me in office hours or in an appointment.
